Program

This program is for low-income senior citizens living in Federal Way who paid utility taxes during 2003. For more information and/or an application, call (253)    661.4061      or visit

    Vocational Training and College Tuition Assistance
  A. Qualifying students enrolled in an accredited vocational training program may be eligible for a
       one-time grant.
 
  B. Students who are enrolled in an accredited college course for studies towards an AA or BA
      degree may be eligible for tuition assistance.
 
  To obtain any of these services, you must come into the Employment Services Department Office
  at the Seattle Indian Center and complete an intake to determine your eligibility. Testing will be
  required for entrance into any of our programs.
 
  Intakes are conducted Monday through Friday, 9 am to 3 pm.
 
  For intake eligibility, you must be an  
       -American Indian,
       -Alaskan Native, or a
       -Hawaiian Native, and a resident of Martin Luther King County.
 
  Please bring the following documents:
 
    1. Washington State Picture ID, showing resident proof of Martin Luther King County.
    2. Social Security Card or A Receipt of Reissue
    3. Proof of Tribal Enrollment or American Indian, Alaska Native or Hawaiian
        Native Ancestry (birth certificate).
    4. Proof of Low Income: (A Statement of Earning from any Washington State
        Worksource Center).

   Money-Saving Programs for Low-Income Senior Citizens and Disabled.
    Please note, the Annual Income Limits to qualify for each program may vary. 
 
   Basic Cable TV Discount - Save up to 30%! Martin Luther King County Residents only.
   If you do not live in Martin Luther King County, Washington, call your Cable Service Provider
   to inquire if this program is available in your area.
 
   If you are a low-income senior citizen (age 62 or older), or are disabled, you may be able to
   receive a reduced rate of up to 30% off  your basic cable rate plan. To qualify for this program,
   the Income Limits per Family Size are:

    2            $21,100                         4           $26,400                         6            $30,600
 
   The Basic Cable TV Discount Rate Plans are as follows:
 
   Martin Luther King County:
 
   A. City of Federal Way residents living North of 280th qualify for a 30% discount off your
        Limited Rate plus installation (if applicable).
 
   B. City of Federal Way residents living South of 280th are eligible for the 20% off Limited Rate
        and 20% off Expanded Rate.

   C. Unincorporated King Count Residents only: Comcast (formerly AT&T Broadband) also offers a
        30% discount on Basic Cable TV for low-income seniors or the disabled living in unincorporated
        Martin Luther King County. This program is managed by King County. For more information, call

  Energy and Weatherization Assistance Program
 
  This is a federal program available to help low-income customers with financial assistance for their
  their winter heating bills. To find out more about the Energy Assistance Program.
